FLAEM AirFeel IMT is a compact, adjustable device designed for inspiratory muscle training (IMT). By providing resistance during inhalation, it enables progressive training of the inspiratory muscles, including the diaphragm.
Lightweight and portable, AirFeel IMT can be used as a standalone inspiratory muscle trainer or combined with the FLAEM AirFeel PEP/OPEP device to provide respiratory physiotherapy during both the inspiratory and expiratory phases.
Adjustable inspiratory resistance from 6–60 cm H₂O
Simple adjustment with clearly readable pressure settings
Lightweight, portable and ergonomic design
Removable top cap for thorough cleaning
Suitable for chemical and thermal disinfection and autoclaving in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
Nose clip supplied
Can be combined with the FLAEM AirFeel PEP/OPEP device
How AirFeel IMT Works
AirFeel IMT uses a spring-loaded valve to provide adjustable resistance during inspiration. At rest, the spring holds the valve closed. As the user inhales and generates sufficient inspiratory pressure, the valve opens and allows air to pass through the device.
The training resistance is adjusted by rotating the central shaft, which changes the compression of the internal spring. This provides an operating range of 6–60 cm H₂O and allows the resistance to be adjusted according to the required training programme.
Designed for Effective Cleaning
AirFeel IMT has a simple modular construction and removable top cap to provide access for thorough cleaning.
The device is manufactured from polypropylene, silicone and stainless steel, with components suitable for chemical and thermal disinfection and autoclaving in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
The two devices address different phases of breathing. AirFeel IMT provides resistance during inspiration for inspiratory muscle training, while AirFeel provides PEP and OPEP therapy during expiration. This allows the two devices to be used as part of a combined respiratory physiotherapy programme where clinically appropriate.
AirFeel IMT Applications
FLAEM identifies AirFeel IMT for a range of clinical, occupational and sporting applications where inspiratory muscle training or improved breathing capacity may be required.
These include respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma and cystic fibrosis, as well as heart failure, sports training and other applications requiring good breathing capacity.
Use of the device should follow the manufacturer’s instructions and, where appropriate, the training programme recommended by a healthcare professional.
